Unrequested Reviews
I’m going to join in on the whole requested vs. unrequested review debate. I have to say that I side with Clem on this one. Unrequested reviews should be a normal part of what to expect when you decide to post design and publish a website. I expect people to talk about my site and have their own opinions about it - that’s perfectly fine. I think that a lot of people who don’t like unrequested reviews don’t want to learn what’s wrong with their site. They want to know what’s good about it. I’m not talking about anyone in particular - notice how I say some people.
Face it. Your site’s on the World Wide Web. Anyone can access it, everyone has their own opinion about it. The only thing I have to say about unrequested reviews is that they shouldn’t be too harsh. Too much sarcasm isn’t appreciated, so try to give constructive criticism without totally destroying the person. That’s what I would do. I think that what really annoys people about unrequested reviews is how they talk about their site, and what attitude they express towards it.
I think that Jem does a good job when reviewing sites. She’s critical, but not overly harsh. And while she does have a fun time expressing her feelings towards the sites, she does help them to improve their site, and to not ever get back on her bad site list again.
Hopefully. If they listen to her.
In conclusion (yes, it’s a cliche closing!), all visitors are entitled to their own opinion, and have a right to talk about it on their site (First Amendment people - freedom of expression!). personally think that people who post their opinions on sites shouldn’t be too sarcastic or too mocking towards the sites, or whatever else they’re reviewing.
