Religion
I’ve just been thinking about religion recently, so I’ve decided to write about it. I have friends with a variety of religions. I have Catholic friends, Jewish friends, Protestant friends, even friends who’s religion is Baha’i. This is where I feel kind of weird. My family doesn’t really have a religion. Our religion is based on our values, not on a God or supernatural beliefs. My family doesn’t believe that people should be ruled by someone, therefore we don’t worship God.
This is kind of strange, because I used to be a really strict Catholic, and one day my parents pulled me out of Sunday School, and I never went back. I haven’t been to church in four years. I pray occasionally, but only if I’m really scared. I also celebrate Christmas, which is the only thing that makes me Christian.
What religion are you? Does your family modify your religion? Are you very strict about your religion, or kind of loose?

I am an atheist; your parents’ philosophy sounds like mine. I haven’t ever gone to church regularly, though I went to Bible school a few times when I was younger. My parents are Christians, and they think I am a Christian, but I don’t believe in God. I’m scared of their reaction if I tell them. All of my friends and people at school know, though, and their fine with it.

I don’t have a religion, and I honestly don’t plan on changing that. I feel fine how I am. I totally respect other religions, and so I ask that they in return respect my lack of one.

Well, out of anyone in our web circle, I’m probably the one who gets the big, fat “Christian” label on their forehead. But really, I don’t think that’s my “religion.” In my youth group, we talk about how being a Christian is really having a RELATIONSHIP with Someone who has loved you forever and has done everything for you and wants to save you. Truly, I know I need saving. I’m not perfect, and things scare me a lot, so I’m glad I have God, my FRIEND, who is big enough to look out for me and keep me safe.
So, yeah. He “rules” me because I let him… and when I follow his plan for my life, things turn out better than I could have ever imagined. ![]()

I am Jewish, but for me it’s more about the cultural holidays and stuff than the beliefs. I go to a reform Jewish synagogue, (which means not so religious), I celebrate the holidays, I know the prayers, I’m in the choir, and I will be having a bat mitzvah this year. However, I’m not sure what I believe in. I’m more of a “When I see it, I’ll believe it person,” and I’m not sure I’ve really seen anything, so right now I don’t really know what I believe in. But so far, I’ve been okay with that and I like to celebrate the holidays and everything.
Hanukkah is this Tuesday! *hopes for cell phone, digital camera, black ballet flats, earrings, books, and much more* *hopes for mom to make latkes*

Wow, it starts early this year. Doesn’t it usually start around the 15th?
My Christmas wishlist is way lame in comparison to yours… a button-maker, a few albums, and some giftcards. ![]()
As for the when I see it, I’ll believe it thing, that’s how I am. I haven’t had a reason to believe in anything yet, so I don’t.

@Clem: It starts different times every year. I remember a few years back it was in November, and two years ago it started on Christmas.
