On Break

Yay! Christmas break is here! No school, no homework, no stress, just presents, sledding and tons of laziness.

But I’ve decided to take two breaks. Chrimas break for me is also going to be… uh…. “life-break.” I’m going to just take this next week or so off to just relax and have fun, because usually my life is going school, working on my website, and cleaning. Ugh. I just need a break. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon, and I’ll still be commenting on other sites! I’m also going to continue working on the new layout for this site, and I’m still writing reviews at Falling Snow, so stay tuned and keep listening! :)

Can You Keep a Secret?

Last week, my mom had this really cool idea (thanks mom!) that instead of giving like 20 of my friends Christmas presents, that we all get together and do Secret Santas. When you do a Secret Santa, you draw a person’s name out of a hat, and that person is your Secret Santa. One week, you give that person a small gift each day, but you don’t tell them who you are. You leave clues to who you are, and on the last day, everyone guesses who they had. It’s a ton of fun, and I got one of my best friends!

Speaking of Christmas, I’ve decided to give you my Christmas list in case, well, someone out there happens to be nice (and rich!) and wants to get me a present. :) Here’s my top 5 X-mas presents:

  1. A Polariod Digital 7MP Camera in red - I love taking pictures, and this camera’s small and compact. Plus it’s red! <3
  2. A PS3 complete with DDR - This game is the best. I don’t have a PS3, and to have DDR you have to have that!

  3. A WebCam - How cool would it be if I could do webshows for you guys? It’d make my site a whole lot more creative and interesting.

  4. A guitar amp - I play the guitar (kind of), but my amp is minuscule and cheap. If I had a better one, and a bigger one, I would definitely practice more.

  5. Last, but definitely not least, we have a gift card to dELia*S. Do I even need to tell you why? :) *

Trying Something… Unusual!

Today, my band teacher announced that we’d be doing something we’d all been waiting for - having a jazz band rehearsal!! Jazz band is only for students who made the cut, so most of us are first, second, and third chair players (I’m a first chair). Having jazz band also meant that I had to do something considered a little strange at my school - play the baritone saxophone. I’d never played it before, and it looked… big. I mean come on! See what it looks like compared to the alto saxophone, what I’m used to playing?

So it was kind of scary, because it weighed a million pounds and I felt like it was going to just drag me down to the floor or something. It’s so big, you have to wear a harness to play it. When I took the harness out of the case, it didn’t look that hard to put on. Yeah right. It took a minute to figure it out, and it was designed for… big people. That took some adjusting.

But, in the end, I loved playing it! It was different then the alto - and I liked the sound of it. As I stated in my last post, I like being weird and different, and playing the barry sax is definitely different!

Have you ever done anything really different?
